Deaf Immigrant Sues ICE Over Utah Bus Stop Encounter With Agents

A deaf immigrant with a green card, who says he was detained, denied a sign language interpreter, and roughed up by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, is suing the government for violating his rights.

The bus stop raid was part of the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown. In May, the Department of Homeland Security implemented a quota of 3,000 immigration arrests per day, the complaint filed Nov. 28 in the US District Court for the District of Utah says.

To fulfill the quota, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller told ICE agents to “‘just go out there and arrest’” ...
