DEA to Pay Black Agents $13 Million in Decades-Old Bias Suit (1)

The Justice Department’s $12.6 million settlement with more than 400 Black DEA agents who were denied promotions under prior resolutions and court orders was approved by a federal judge in a 50-year-old discrimination case.

The settlement is partial “to the extent that it only compensates plaintiffs” in the 1977 class action who were denied promotion by the Drug Enforcement Agency to the GS-14 or GS-15 level between Jan. 21, 1993, and May 2, 2022, the US District Court for the District of Columbia said.
