DC Circuit Probes DOJ on Transfer of Transgender Women Inmates

Judges on the DC Circuit grilled the Justice Department Friday about the legality of transferring transgender women prisoners to men’s prisons under Bureau of Prisons intake evaluation standards after an executive order by President Donald Trump required the transfers.

The US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit also sought clarification from lawyers for the inmates fighting the transfers about factors that could put them at risk in men’s facilities.
