Daniels Health Hit IP Suit Over Drug Disposal Technology

Daniels Sharpsmart Inc. doing business as Daniels Health, is facing patent infringement claims by Verde Environmental Technologies Inc.
over products that use activated carbon and warm water to deactivate and dispose of pharmaceuticals.

Daniels provides disposal services for sharps, as well as biohazardous, medical, and pharmaceutical waste.

Verde alleges Daniels is infringing US Patent No. 8,535,711, entitled “Medication Disposal System,” issued on Sept. 17, 2013, according to the complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the District of Minnesota.

The technology in the patent is incorporated into Verde’s Deterra Drug Deactivation Disposal System, the complaint alleges.
