CuriosityStream Wins Bid to Send Privacy Claims to Arbitrator

Consumers’ allegations that CuriosityStream Inc. illegally shared their video-viewing information with Meta Platforms Inc. without their consent will be heard by an arbitrator rather than by a court, the Fourth Circuit said in a Monday ruling.

Users of the video streaming service had reasonable notice that registering with its website constituted assent to its terms of use, which included an arbitration clause, the divided US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit panel said.

The 2-1 majority reversed a lower court ruling that denied CuriosityStream’s motion to compel arbitration.
