Cupertino Electric Inc. agreed to pay $740,520 to settle a proposed class action alleging the electrical systems designer failed to protect the personal information of nearly 25,000 people that was exposed in a 2023 data breach.
Under the proposed deal awaiting a federal judge’s final approval, class members each would be eligible for reimbursement of up to $5,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses related to the breach, or a pro rata share of the net settlement fund after attorneys’ fees and costs are deducted.
