CUNY Professor Should Advance Antisemitism Lawsuit, Judge Says

A Jewish professor should proceed with her hostile work environment lawsuit seeking to hold The City University of New York liable for allowing antisemitism during campus protests supporting Hamas, a federal magistrate judge said.

Leah Garrett, who chairs the Jewish studies department at the university’s Hunter College campus in Manhattan, adequately alleged that CUNY is responsible for harassment that targeted Jewish individuals in violation of Title VII, magistrate judge Robert W. Lehrburger of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York said in a Friday report and recommendation against dismissing the suit.
