Covington Sued for Malpractice Over Crypto Founder Defense (1)

Law firm Covington & Burling LLP was hit with a $100 million lawsuit from a cryptocurrency consultant and lawyer who accused the firm of improperly advising him in a federal criminal prosecution in New York.

Steven Nerayoff, founder of the blockchain company Alchemist, alleged that Covington white collar defense attorney Alan Vinegrad told him not to share exculpatory video and email evidence with prosecutors who charged him with extortion in 2019.
