Court Trims White Firefighter’s Bias Lawsuit Against Phoenix

The City of Phoenix convinced a federal judge to nix some of a White male firefighter’s claims in his race and sex discrimination suit.

Chad Lancaster can’t pursue punitive damages or his intentional infliction of emotional distress claim, the US District Court for the District of Arizona said in a Monday order partially granting the city’s dismissal motion. The former chief of the Phoenix Fire Department was dismissed as a defendant because the claim against him was also dropped.
