A proposed class of First Student Management LLC employees was denied preliminary approval of their proposed settlement after a federal judge said they lack adequate counsel.
The motion filed by the workers failed to address significant predominance issues that the court previously found “despite clear guidance from the Court,” and their counsel failed to undertake the discovery necessary to prove their claims, Judge Jon S. Tigar, of the US District Court for the Northern District of California, said. “The proposed settlement also suffers from many other defects that prevent approval,” he added.
