Consumers alleging that LexisNexis used the personal information of consumers to advertise its information-based analytics products without their consent can’t sue the foreign parents of the US-based company that operates the personal-records service, a federal court ruled.
The US District Court for the District of California lacked personal jurisdiction over RELX PLC, RELX Group PLC, RELX (Holdings) Ltd., and RELX Overseas Holdings Ltd. because they didn’t have the required minimum contacts with California, Judge Dale S. Fischer said Feb. 14.
