Court Advances Some of Illinois Teacher’s Whistleblower Suit

A teacher who reported an allegation that the principal’s son sexually assaulted another student can move forward with claims that the principal retaliated against her, a federal judge said, while also trimming the suit.

The US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois partly denied Summit Hill Junior High School Principal Laura C. Goebel’s motion to dismiss Lisa Strzykalski’s lawsuit against the school board, principal, and superintendent, in an opinion clarifying parts of the Illinois Whistleblower Act.
