Coupang Executives Hit With Investor Suit Over Record Data Leak

Top executives and board members of Coupang Inc. is being sued by an investor over the online retailer’s November data breach that impacted more than 33 million customer accounts.

The officers allegedly breached their fiduciary duties by allowing Coupang to operate with inadequate cybersecurity safeguards, resulting in its failure to protect customer data and increased exposure to legal and regulatory scrutiny, a shareholder derivative complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California said.

The company and several executives are also facing a proposed investor class action, which was filed last month.
