Costco Targeted in Wiretap Lawsuit Over Meta Pixel on Website

Costco Wholesale Corp. intercepted the protected health information of website visitors and shared it with Facebook without their knowledge or consent in violation of the wiretapping provisions of the California Invasion of Privacy Act, a proposed federal class action said.

Marc Godino, Robin Warbey, Jacob Davis, and two others alleged that Costco installed the Facebook pixel, a snippet of code that tracks and records user interactions with websites and transfers the resulting information to the social media giant, on its website.
