Cosmetology Schools, Students Reach $2.8 Million Wage Suit Deal

Cosmetology schools and students who say they deserve pay for some work performed alongside training reached a $2.8 million deal to end their wage-and-hour dispute.

The settlement covers approximately 5,100 workers who attended Douglas J. Institute Inc.'s cosmetology schools in Michigan and participated in certain program segments from January 2012 through December 2022, according to a memo filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in support of the preliminary approval motion.
