Cops Avoid Suit by Woman Tasered During Ruckus in Maternity Ward

Police officers aren’t liable for the way they handled an unruly guest in a Georgia hospital’s labor-and-delivery unit, the Eleventh Circuit said.

Because London Bouvier wouldn’t leave the room while her friend was being given an epidural, Piedmont Hospital Newton security called the police, and three officers arrived, including Sergeant Starr Smith and Officers Brandon Wilkerson and Scott Fairburn. Bouvier alleged the officers unlawfully seized her and used excessive force.
