Cooley Dodges Malpractice Claim After Representing Carbon IQ (1)

A legal malpractice claim against Cooley LLP and several of its attorneys was dismissed by a federal court in a suit by an investor in Carbon IQ.

Gould Ventures LLC and Jason Gould didn’t allege that there was either an express or implied attorney-client relationship between them and the defendants, Judge Robert Kirsch said May 23 for the US District Court for the District of New Jersey in an unpublished opinion. But fraud and negligent misrepresentation claims may proceed against the defendants, Kirsch said.
