A Florida man found guilty of murdering the mother of his child while on probation for federal wire fraud charges won an appeal challenging his 20-year prison sentence, Tuesday.
The district court failed to adequately explain its decision to deviate from the US Sentencing Guidelines range in fashioning Henry Steiger’s sentence, the US Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit said, remanding the case for a new sentencing hearing.
