Continued.com Defeats Consumer Lawsuit Over Meta Info Sharing

Continuing-education provider Continued.com LLC defeated for now a proposed class action alleging it disclosed the video-viewing habits of its subscribers to Meta Platforms Inc. in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act.

Lead plaintiff Victoria Lovett failed to allege that the information disclosed by Continued.com to Meta was “personally identifiable information” as defined under the VPPA, Judge Douglas R. Cole of the US District Court for the Southern District of Ohio said Tuesday.

Cole granted the company’s motion to dismiss, but gave Lovett leave to file an amended complaint.
