Consumers Advance Hearst TV Suit Over Info Sharing With Google

Multimedia company Hearst Television Inc. must face a proposed class action alleging it shared information about videos viewed by users of its apps with Google Inc. and Braze Inc. in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act, a federal court ruled.

Michele Saunders and Richard Hayden adequately pleaded that Hearst was a “video tape service provider” and that they were “consumers” under the VPPA, Judge Richard G. Stearns of the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts said Thursday.
