Conman Who Shot Austin Judge Fails to Shake His Life Sentence

There were no serious errors in the federal trial of a Houston man who tried to assassinate an Austin judge to stay out of prison in 2015, a federal magistrate judge said.

As such, Magistrate Judge Susan Hightower recommended on Monday that Chimene Onyeri continue to serve a life sentence. The recommendation is pending a final decision from District Judge David Ezra.
