Conagra Hit With Orville Redenbacher’s ‘Naturals’ False-Ad Suit

Conagra Brands Inc. was accused in a proposed class action Thursday of tricking consumers into thinking its Orville Redenbacher’s Naturals popcorn products are made out of all-natural ingredients despite containing synthetic tocopherols.

The popcorn packaging includes statements like “Only Real Ingredients” and “Naturals,” which give buyers the impression that the products lack synthetic ingredients, according to the consumer complaint filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

The labeling “puts forth a straightforward, material message” that the popcorn products “contain only natural ingredients,” the complaint said.
