Companies Participating in Visa Program Owe Applicant $500,000

An unsuccessful EB-5 visa program applicant is entitled to $500,000 from Alliance Reentry Centers PBC and a subsidiary for breaching a settlement agreement they made to avoid a lawsuit over his investment, a federal court ruled.

Yash Kamat, a software engineer and H1-B visa holder who sought legal permanent residency through the investment program, has prevailed on his breach of contract claim, Judge Jesse M. Furman said Jan. 23 for the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
