Comic book collectibles grading company Certified Guaranty Co. and parent Certified Collectibles Group LLC filed claims against two former employees alleging they stole comic books from CGC’s facilities and sold them online using bogus CGC labels that inflated their value.
Brandon Terrazas “engaged in a fraudulent scheme with his wife, Ayana Terrazas, to strip CGC” of its goodwill by stealing customer-submitted comic books, “generating duplicates of legitimate, authenticated CGC grade labels belonging to highly valuable comic books,” and using the labels to sell “less valuable, lower grade comic books” to the public at large, the complaint alleges.
