Comfort Systems Gets Preliminary Approval for Wage, Hour Pact

A Comfort Systems USA Inc. subsidiary will pay $60,000 to resolve a proposed wage and hour class action by electrical and sprinkler workers, under an agreement given preliminary approval by a federal trial court.

The agreement between Comfort Systems USA (Syracuse) Inc. and the 35 members of the proposed settlement class is appropriate because the members lack the resources to pursue individual claims and requiring them to file individual suits for awards as small as $100 “would undermine judicial economy,” Judge Lawrence E. Kahn of the US District Court for the Northern District of New York said Wednesday.
