A former consultant accused of acting as a conduit for bribe money in the “ComEd Four” scheme was sentenced Tuesday to a year and a day in prison.
Jay Doherty, who in addition to his consulting and lobbying work also headed the City Club of Chicago, is the final ex-utility insider to be sentenced in the plan to influence then-Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan (D).
In a statement before the sentence was rendered, Doherty said he was “deeply ashamed” to have been associated with a matter that “corrupted people’s faith and trust in the political process.”
