College Student Beaten by Officers Denied Another High Court Bid

A college student in Minnesota who says he was severely beaten by plainclothes officers after they mistook him for a fugitive in 2014 won’t be heard by the US Supreme Court for a second time.

The high court denied James King’s petition for certiorari Monday. He’d asked the justices to address whether a procedural rule that permits litigants to seek relief from a judicial judgment was available in his case.

The denial effectively leaves him with no civil recourse against the officers.
