Collectors Holdings Inc. was sued by a consumer who claims the firm cornered the market for sports-card grading through unlawful deals and increased prices for verifying the condition of collectibles.
Collectors’ 2024 purchase of Sportscard Guaranty Corp. and 2025 acquisition of Beckett Grading Services violated Section 7 of the Clayton Act, which prohibits acquisitions that lessen competition, according to a proposed class action filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
