General Mills Sued by Consumers Who Say Cocoa Puffs Contain Lead

General Mills Sales Inc. failed to warn customers that Cocoa Puffs products contain lead and that a typical consumer’s portion exceeds the daily limit of the allowable amount of lead set by California’s Proposition 65, a proposed class action alleged.

The company “materially omits” from Cocoa Puffs labels that the products contain lead and has a duty to disclose the presence of the heavy metal, the complaint filed Friday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California said.

General Mills didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
