Cleveland-Cliffs Settles with Ohio Over Mishandled Waste

Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. settled a lawsuit brought by Ohio’s attorney general that alleged it improperly handled waste and radioactive equipment on its property in Cleveland.

The publicly-traded steel manufacturer agreed to follow state law and clean up and restore contaminated sites within six months, according to an agreed-upon order signed Wednesday by a judge and filed in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court. It must also maintain insurance for the site until the restoration is completed and post a $150,000 bond with the state.
