Cleveland-Cliffs Illegally Handled Oil, Gas Waste, Ohio Says (1)

Ohio’s attorney general sued Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. and an oil and gas company, accusing them of improperly handling waste and radioactive equipment on the former’s property in Cleveland.

The lawsuit comes months after Duck Creek Energy Inc. and a sister company sued the publicly-traded steel manufacturer, saying it breached a lease and illegally demolished the formers’ operations, leading to brine and oil spilling onto the ground and causing millions of dollars’ worth of damage. Cleveland-Cliffs asked a judge to toss the case.
