Cleveland Browns Sue City to Clear Way for New Suburban Stadium

The Cleveland Browns on Thursday sued the city of Cleveland to prevent the latter from using an Ohio law to try to thwart the team’s plans to build a new domed stadium in the suburbs and play home games there.

The Browns are suing because the city has said it intends to sue the team under the state’s Art Modell Law, named after the former Browns owner who moved the team to Baltimore in 1996, over its plans to build a stadium in bordering Brook Park.
