Clearview AI Inc. reached a preliminary settlement with consumers accusing the company of violating their state privacy rights by using billions of images on the internet to fuel its facial recognition technology without consent.
The parties have settled the proposed class action “in principle,” and plaintiffs’ counsel will file a motion to approve the agreement, according to a Thursday entry in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The docket entry by Judge Sharon J. Coleman didn’t disclose any details about the pending settlement.
