Reckitt Benckiser LLC, the British parent company of acne drug brand Clearasil, is the latest consumer goods company accused of failing to disclose or warn customers of benzene in certain acne products.
The proposed class action complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida says Reckitt knew the benzoyl peroxide in Clearasil products would degrade into benzene while “concealing material health and safety information.” Benzene exposure is linked to increased risks of certain blood cancers.
