Leading egg producers engaged in a price-fixing conspiracy that included a food industry market intelligence company, according to a new proposed class action lawsuit.
The alleged scheme involved the five largest egg producers in US that reported inflated assessments of egg prices to a food industry publication with customers in the egg, poultry, and related fields, claims the suit filed Monday with the US District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.
It follows the Justice Department’s probe that became public on March 7 into some of same companies, including Cal-Maine Foods Inc. and Rose Acre Farms Inc.
