Citibank Argentina Branch Lacks US Challenge to Worker’s Big Win

A former Citibank NA employee’s $4 million wrongful termination win in Argentinian court—which has grown to $9.5 million with fees and interest—remained intact after the Second Circuit Wednesday rejected an attempt by the bank’s foreign branch to challenge the judgment in the US.

The ruling gave the New York-based federal appeals court its first chance to apply its holding in a 2021 case that a real party in interest may be able to substitute as the plaintiff in a lawsuit when the related party that sued lacks a separate legal existence.
