Clothing and home-goods retailer Citi Trends Inc. failed to protect the personal information of current and former employees that was exposed in a January data breach, a new proposed federal class action said.
Sienna Thomas alleged the Savannah, Georgia-based retailer failed to encrypt employees’ sensitive information, implement adequate data-security practices, or provide timely notice of the breach.
Information exposed in the incident included first and last names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, financial-account numbers, routing numbers, and other information, according to a complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Georgia.
