Citi Can’t Dodge Credit Buyer’s Suit On Overvalued Portfolios

Citibank NA failed to convince a judge to dismiss contract claims from Absolute Resolutions Investments LLC, a consumer debt buyer alleging Citibank intentionally withheld more valuable accounts during portfolio sales.

The US District Court for the Southern District of New York denied Citibank’s motion to dismiss Absolute’s claims for breach of contract and breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing on Monday.

Absolute says that instead of getting portfolios similar to samples Citibank provided during the bidding process for sales in 2019 and 2020, it got ones with a disproportionate percentage lower-value accounts as a result ...
