Chrome Users Won’t See Quick Review of Class Status Denial

A group of Google Chrome users won’t get a quick appeal of a district court’s decision to deny class certification in a privacy suit challenging the browser’s data collection practices.

The plaintiffs said the Alphabet Inc. unit broke its promise not to collect data for Chrome users who declined to sync the browser with their Google account. Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers, of the US District Court for the Northern District of California, said in June that class certification would be inappropriate since people might differ on how they understood Google’s privacy promises.
