Christian Teacher’s Suit Over Transgender Policy Gets Trimmed

A Maryland teacher who said she lost her job for refusing to help elementary school students transition genders saw most of her suit nixed Friday but can pursue a workplace accommodation claim.

The ex-Montgomery County substitute teacher, Kimberly Ann Polk, can proceed with her claim that the county Board of Education improperly refused to accommodate her religious beliefs, the US District Court for the District of Maryland said.

But Polk failed to sufficiently allege violations of her constitutional free exercise of religion and free speech rights, Judge Deborah L. Boardman said.
