Christian Dior Beats Class Action Over Virtual Try-On Tool

Christian Dior Inc. won’t have to face a proposed class action alleging it collected facial scans from website visitors in violation of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act.

The company’s practices fell under a statutory exemption for information captured from a patient in a health care setting, Judge Elaine E. Bucklo of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois said Jan. 10, granting Dior’s motion to dismiss.

Delma Warmack-Stillwell sued the fashion company after using its virtual try-on feature on her phone 10 times to try on sunglasses.
