Chobani Yogurt Buyer Settles, Drops ‘Vanilla’ Deception Lawsuit

A Chobani yogurt consumer has voluntarily dropped claims challenging the label of a vanilla yogurt product.

Elena Nacarino sued Chobani LLC in 2020 in the US District Court for the Northern District of California. She alleged the “Greek Yogurt Vanilla Blended” product name and label imagery made retail purchasers think the product had more flavor from the vanilla plant than it really did.

• Her proposed class suit was later trimmed, eliminating claims for money damages and leaving claims for injunctive relief and the equitable remedy of restitution
