Chipotle Beats Bias Suit by Leader Fired Over Store Cleanliness

A Chipotle field leader lacks evidence his termination at age 57 over pest and cleanliness issues in several of his stores was a cover for age discrimination, a New Mexico federal judge ruled.

The team director made the firing decision after the University of New Mexico location that was in the former employee’s “patch” of nine stores had a months-long cockroach infestation, the US District Court for the District of New Mexico said. Around the same time, four of the field leader’s other restaurants failed audits on Chipotle Mexican Grill LLC’s site cleanliness standards, the court said.
