Chinese Smart TV Firm Blocked From Tracking Users in Texas Case

Hisense USA Corp., a smart TV company based in China, was blocked by a Texas state court from collecting data on the content viewers watch, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) said in press release Wednesday.

The temporary restraining order comes just two days after Paxton sued Hisense along with Sony Corp. of America, Samsung Electronics America, LG Electronics USA, and TCL Technology Group North America Inc. for violating state privacy law by recording users’ TV content data.
