Chicago Sues DOJ Over Public Safety Grants’ Diversity Rules (1)

Chicago and St. Paul, Minn., are suing the Justice Department over the agency’s requirement that cities not promote public safety programs that boost diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The policy prevents the cities from being able to accept grants for issues like hiring more police officers and supporting the homeless, the cities said in a lawsuit filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
