A Chicago-based college was accused in a new proposed class action of failing to protect the personal information of more than 96,000 people that was exposed in a November 2023 data breach and ransomware attack.
In a complaint filed Tuesday, named plaintiff Yolanda Little, a student, alleged that South Suburban College breached its duties to protect sensitive data under contract, industry standards, common law, and the Federal Trade Commission Act.
She also said the college failed to implement reasonable and adequate data-security measures or provide timely notice of the breach.
