Landry’s Inc. is on the hook for $20 million in losses suffered by JP Morgan Chase Bank NA as a result of a 2014 data breach of Landry’s payment-processing system, a federal appellate court ruled.
The multi-billion dollar operator of restaurants, hotels, and casinos had a contractual obligation to indemnify Chase for assessments imposed upon the bank by Visa Inc. and Mastercard International Inc. as a result of the breach, Judge Stuart K. Duncan of the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit said Thursday.
