Charter Communications Faces Class Suits After ShinyHunters Hack

Charter Communications Inc. told reporters that it suffered a data breach, leading residents of Texas and North Carolina to assert negligence claims against the telecommunications company in federal court.

ShinyHunters claimed that in a phishing attack on a Charter employee’s Microsoft Entra account, it acquired customer proprietary network information, email addresses, and phone numbers, according to a report cited Thursday in one of the complaints filed in the US District Court for the District of Connecticut. Charter, which operates Spectrum, previously said that no sensitive personal information was compromised in the breach.
