Challenge Over Obliterated Gun Serial Numbers Meets Skepticism

Judges of the Fourth Circuit, sitting en banc, appeared skeptical on Wednesday of a lower court’s decision to strike down a federal law that makes it a crime to possess a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

It was the second constitutional challenge to a gun law heard by the appeals court en banc of the day, coming after arguments about a Maryland law that is also facing renewed questions under the Second Amendment.
