Celebrity Shoe Brand Rothy’s Brings Patent Suit Against QVC, MIA

Rothy’s Inc., a shoe company popularized by celebrities like Meghan Markle, accused rival shoemaker MIA Shoes Inc. and vendors including QVC and DSW of selling footwear knocking off Rothy’s flats.

Rothy’s filed a complaint Thursday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware bringing patent and trade dress infringement claims against the companies.

The direct-to-consumer Rothy’s, which markets its shoes as washable and eco-friendly, says it owns patent rights for its pointed-toe and round-toe footwear designs. MIA is making “nearly identical” shoes and QVC, DSW, Stitch Fix Inc., and Caleres Inc. are selling them, the complaint ...
